The Vice Presidential trial balloon of the week seems to be Joe Biden. Coming on the heels of Evan Bayh, he seems like a huge relief to many, but it may be one of those situations where you feel better simply because you stop hitting your head against the wall. Nate Silver notes that in a recent poll, Biden's strong unfavorables exceed his strong favorables: Basically, I think he is identified enough...

It was another fairly bad polling day for Barack Obama, and we are getting to the point where it would be hard to describe the election as anything other than "too close to call". But most of that has been driven by the rapidly tightening national numbers . This set of state polling isn't quite as bad as it looks for Obama: The most disappointing for result for Obama is probably in Indiana, where...

...by Michael Moore to Carolyn Kennedy , the head of his Veep finding committee. The crux? He wants her to "pull a Cheney" and nominate herself, and gives the reasons why (along with some very good arguments why none of Obama's short listers are appropriate Veep picks - and I heartily agree). Blenders, as we come close to seeing who Obama will pick, what is your opinion of this letter? Julien

[Guest post by DRJ] Michael Moore has written an open letter to Caroline Kennedy asking her to “pull a Cheney” and pick herself as Obama’s Vice President. He’s also shared with Barack Obama this blueprint for how to lose the Presidential election: 1. Keep saying nice things about McCain. 2. Pick a running mate who is a [...]

As the video below shows, back in 1988 when Joe Biden, a possible Obama VP pick was running for President he released a commercial that said; The White House isn't the place to learn how to deal with international crisis, the balance of power, war and peace, and the economic future of the next generation. A President has got to know the territory, but that's not enough." (H/T Ben Smith) Biden is right,...

This is a decidedly less-than-friendly look at Obama's slide in the polls. Election Projection shows McCain AHEAD in electoral votes! Yoiks!!!! The Obama folks must be seeking cover somewhere.....perhaps at the DEM convention! BUT...that is followed in a week by.....The GOP convention. This is getting interestinger and interestinger! Duke

While I hate to disprove co-author Pete Abel or John F. Harris or the veneable Tribble Ad Agency , I now have the final results in hand as to who Obama’s running mate will be in this race. As many have suggested, the final choice comes as a great surprise and is likely driven in large part by Obama’s recently slipping poll numbers. Be that as it may, on Thursday afternoon, Barack Obama will name,...

JOHN F. HARRIS, Politico - Count Ralph Nader as unimpressed by the crop of supposed finalists to be Barack Obama’s running mate. “I don’t think he’s that dumb,” said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama’s choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden, Evan Bayh, or Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine. The smart pick, according to Nader, is Hillary [...]

If Obama is smart. Ralph Nader agrees. The polls are too close and they shouldn't be considering the press adoration of Obama, his "Presidential" swing though Europe, the economy, and the unpopularity of Bush. If he knows where his bread is buttered and he can swallow his pride, he will pick Hillary. Then McCain will have an uphill climb.
